How to Handle a Private Owner?

Private owners place cars in their driveway, to get potential customers to purchase them. Many of the times, private owners try to operate under the table, meaning, allowing you to pay them a small deposit and giving them the rest whenever you can. This can alright for someone who trusts the owner, but it can cause a lot of problems.

A private owner may have a Carcraft Audi A3 for Sale in his or her driveway. You may take a look at it and ask the owner a few questions about it, such as how many miles are on the vehicle and can the vehicle be returned, if you are not happy? Most owners do not have any paperwork set up on a vehicle placed in their driveway. It is more or less a vocal agreement. It is best to have a written agreement, so that if anything happens with the vehicle or you need to seek legal advice, it will be on paper.

If the owner does not want to place anything on paper, do not do business with him or her. Search somewhere else for a vehicle. The vehicle may be what you want, but you may end up having to pay more than the car, if the owner takes you to court. He or she may say that you never made a payment, but in fact, you have always been current on your payments.

The private owner will not let you leave, if he or she wants your money. The owner may tell you that he or she is going to write up an agreement and will contact you in the next day or two. You can almost guarantee that the owner will call you back because the owner may not get anyone else to purchase the vehicle. Many people may have taken a look at the car, but they may not want to pay the price for the vehicle.

The next time you see the vehicle of your dreams parked in someone's driveway, it may not be all that it is cracked out to be. You may have more problems with it than you want. The problems are not the vehicle itself. It may be with the owner.
